Q. How do I transfer a domain name AWAY from Hosting UK to another ISP?

A. The transfer of domain names is a fairly straight forward process providing the process below is followed carefully.

If your intention is purely to change name server entries you can do that via the control panel under the transfer option. I this instance Hosting UK remain the billing contact for the domain and will continue to bill you at domain renewal time however the name servers for the new ISP are listed and they are able to add the domain to their DNS.

For a full transfer to a new ISP where they become the new Billing and Technical contacts:

The requst shouyld be made to Hosting UK support.  It must come from teh registered account contact or domain owner so that we can verify it.  In some cases we may require formal authorisation via a fax signed by the domain owner and in the case of a company owned domain on letter headed paper.

The fax should contain all relevant information regarding the transfer.

In the case of domain types the fax should list the new ISPs Nominet TAG.

In the case of other domains you should make us aware of the new ISPs details and their requesting domain authority.

This fax should be sent to us at 01745 770206

Procedure domains

In the case of domains we will transfer the domain to the new tag and responsibility for the domain will change to the new ISP.
This process is normally completed within an hour or so of the fax being received.

.com .net .biz .info .org domains

In the case of .com .net .biz .info .org domains it is VITAL that the following is noted:

We cannot push a domain to a new ISP or change to their tags/handles UNLESS the ICANN registrar they use is the same registrar as we use:

1. CSL Computer Service Langenbach GmbH d/b/a

2. Other domain types

Where domain type is .com .net .biz .info .org and registrar is THE SAME as ours

If the ISP uses the same registrar as ours then please ensure that their HANDLE with that registrar is listed. We will transfer all authority to them.

This process is normally completed within an hour or so of the fax being received.

Where domain type is .com .net .biz .info .org and registrar is NOT the same as ours

If the above does not apply your new ISP MUST request the full transfer to them via their ICANN registrar.

The domain CANNOT be transferred within 60 days of registration or renewal. This is an ICANN ruling and nothing we have any power to change.

The procedure is as follows:

a) New ISP requests full transfer of the domain to their registrar

b) Our registrar advises us that a request to transfer the domain away has been received. We check that a corresponding authorisation has been received via fax and if so agree to the transfer.

c) If we have agreed to the transfer requested received a window for transfer will be opened.

In this procedure a completion normally takes around 10 days.
