If you wish to use an access database with your site - you should upload it via FTP to the DB folder in your FTP root..

You can then create a DSN less connection to this database by using the following path:

D:\inetpub\users\YOURUSERNAME\db\databasename.mdb

note that this path is different to the path returned by server.mappath as the files are not in the same path.

If your site is hosted on ftp10.hostinguk.net or above then the full path will be:

D:\inetpub\YOURDOMAINNAME\web\db

an example of an ASP dsnless connection on a windows 2000 server is as follows:

ConnString = "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)}; DBQ=D:\inetpub\users\YOURUSERNAME\db\databasename.mdb"

On Windows 2003 this would read:

ConnString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=D:\inetpub\users\YOURUSERNAME\db\databasename.mdb"

For users of FTP10 - FTP22 this would read:
ConnString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=D:\Inetpub\domain\web\db\databasename.mdb"

Please not the "domain" entry does not need the "www." prefix.
